RuPaul Sets a New Record with 10th Consecutive Emmy Nom
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
RuPaul was already a record-breaker when it comes to the Emmys. Now he's done it again, with his 10th Emmy nomination in a row in the category of outstanding host for a reality competition show.
The nom was part of those announced by The Television Academy on July 15, Entertainment Weekly reported.
With the 2025 Emmy nominations announced, "Mama Ru sashayed past 'Project Runway''s Heidi Klum and 'Dancing With the Stars'' Tom Bergeron" to snatch the record, EW noted.
Fellow nominees include "'Survivor''s Jeff Probst, 'Top Chef''s Kristen Kish, the seven-strong 'Shark Tank' ensemble, and reigning category champion, Alan Cumming of 'The Traitors,'" the outlet went on to add.
That's just one category. Widening the focus, "'RuPaul's Drag Race season 17' earned nods for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Directing for a Reality Program, and for season 2 runner-up Raven's makeup, among others," EW tallied, "while the 'Untucked' companion show also earned another nomination for Unstructured Reality Program."
Taking into account all of RuPaul's nominations across all categories over the years, the drag icon "heads into September's 2025 Emmys ceremony" with more consecutive nominations than anyone has ever managed before, the article added.
"He also stands as the most-decorated Black artist in Emmys history," EW noted, "with 14 statues to his name."
And Ru is not slowing down.
"RuPaul is currently presiding over the bracket-style [All Stars] 10 competition, which concludes Friday on Paramount+," EW pointed out.
But in the world of drag and fashion, hustle is the name of the game, and Ru's got competition. EW noted that "Klum is hot on her tail, as the 'Project Runway' host returns to the fashion competition program on July 31 for the first time since 2017, as the show moves from Bravo to Freeform, Hulu, and Disney+."
Just how many new statuettes will Ru be taking home this time? We'll find out Sept. 15, when the awards ceremony is broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
