Pit Crew Fave Bruno Wants to Show You a 'Happy Ending' with New Show
READ TIME: 5 MIN.
While the 9 eliminated contestants on Season 17 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" were brought back for the chance of winning $50,000 in the lipsynch challenge called Lalaparuza Smackdown, it was long-time Pit Crew member Bruno Alcantara who stole the show. Dressed in only a Speedo – the Pit Crew fashion statement -- the 6'3" stunningly hot Brazilian was on camera for much of the episode as he randomly picked the Smackdown competitors. And did so with his iconic winning smile and easy and confident manner while barefoot and nearly naked. It is easy to see why he's become the break-out talent from the Pit Crew, of which he has been a member since the 11th season in 2019.
So it isn't much of a surprise to see the entrepreneurial Alcantara get his own show on WOW Presents Plus, the web-based network that streams most of the shows in the ever-widening RuPaul franchise from the producing company World of Wonder.
Cheekily called "Happy Endings with Bruno," the original series will feature the hunky Alcantara in his other career as a professional life coach and massage therapist.
Its press release writes: "'On Happy Endings with Bruno,' the Pit Crew legend will invite special guests to his massage studio for a full body massage interwoven with intimate and emotional conversations which answer the question of: 'What does my Happy Ending look like?'. Happy Endings with Bruno will premiere exclusively on WOW Presents Plus worldwide this summer, from Emmy-winning producers World of Wonder.
"Combining the soothing elements of massage ASMR with thoughtful and often vulnerable interviews, 'Happy Endings with Bruno' offers viewers a rare glimpse into the personal journeys of its guests. Each episode will feature a new massage patient in the studio, with a cast of celebrity guest stars across Drag Race queens, 'RuPaul's Drag Race Live!' dancers, actors and content creators: Brandon Kyle Goodman (actor; 'Abbott Elementary,' 'Big Mouth'), Kyle Krieger (content creator), Nick Lemmer ('RuPaul's Drag Race Live!' dancer, Lazi Susan), Kameron Michaels ('RuPaul's Drag Race' S10, 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars' S6), Sebastian Molina ('RuPaul's Drag Race Live!' dancer), Siam Phusri ('Drag Race Thailand' S3).
Bruno Alcantara said, "I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity WOW Presents Plus has given me to share my passion for massage with a global audience. For me, massage is more than just relaxation–it's about connection, healing, and the power of human touch."
So who is Bruno? In a 2022 interview with Issuu.com, he said he emigrated to the United States in 2014 from Brazil (a small town called Ilheus/Bahia) and in addition to his Pit Crew duties, works as a LGBTQ + Life Coach, Massage Therapist, and freelances as an event Producer.
On Instagram, he described himself as a "Jack of All Trades" because of his varied professions, explaining to Instinct Magazine in 2020. "I believe that we are not just one thing, we all have different facets and I try to explore that in my life. But whatever you do if it makes you happy, if you do it well, with your heart and help or improve people's lives in some way, I think it's valid. As I love people and attention, my intention is to dedicate most of my time to acting and my life coach business."
He received Degree in Communication Advertising and my MBA in Human Resources. He worked for three years at Sao Paulo Fashion Week and Fashion Rio. This experience, he says, "made me learn and grow a lot, it also made me want to be fluent in English so bad. And that was the real reason I came to Los Angeles to do 3 months of English school."
His plan was to return to Brazil after his intensive English classes; instead he stayed, took 2 years of acting classes, became a certified life coach, and worked with Madonna on an international Rebel Heart Tour. His boss from the tour, Jaime Laurita, was a good friend of Michelle Visage and introduced him to the producers of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
His interest in becoming a life coach came from his own experiences. "Looking back into my life, I realized all the ups and downs, all the changes I went through and the amount of energy, confidence, persistence that I needed to make things happen and I noticed how many people are actually struggling with that," he told Closet Magazine in 2020. "So I decided to become a Life Coach to have the skills and tools to empower people to believe in themselves and realized that we have everything that it takes to make changes and have a happier life. As a coach, I am dedicated to help gay men to increase self love and make positive changes in their lives. Self love is life changing."
His interest in massage therapy, which is central to his new show, came to him casually. "Not everyone knows that, but I am pretty spiritual aware and love to work with people and to help people," he explained to Issuu.com. "Massage therapy started as a hobby back in Brazil, I never had the intention to really take it as a profession but it ended up that I am pretty good at it. Through massage I have the opportunity to help people more physically and through coaching more mentally, emotionally."
As for Bruno's amazing physique, he said that he became more conscious of maintaining it after joining the Pit Crew, but, as he told Closet Magazine, isn't obsessed by it. "I try to keep balance and consistency in my life. Exercising for sure and a diet that includes greens, vegetables but is not too strict, so I can still have things that I like and make me happy, like cake and pizza. We gotta find what works best for us. I've been trying intermittent fasting lately, It's really good. We gotta invest in ourselves, inside and out."
He admitted to Instinct Magazine that he "never felt attractive or beautiful" as a teenager, and was a skinny kid until he was 15. "But at some point I wasn't totally happy with the way I looked and I decided to change my body. Luckily I have good genetics and that helped me too. But It was a process, and I did put a lot of energy into it. I did it and I believe anyone can do it."
And feels that RuPaul has been a life-affirming influence in his life. "(H)e is such an inspiration, so accessible, friendly and wise, is always motivating and sharing funny stories in the quick chats we have right before shooting a scene. He totally influenced me in a good way as a gay man, with his messages of love and self acceptance," he told Closet Magazine.
"I admire RuPaul very much for his talent, intelligence and his message to the world. Being on the show gave me an opportunity to get to know and respect the drag world, as this beautiful platform of art, entertainment, expression, self-acceptance and diversity that brings people together in the name of love," he added to Instinct Magazine. "So I am proud and grateful to be in a such a successful show that has changed me as a gay man and allows me to receive so much love from all around the world."
