Watch: Straight Irish OF Star Andy Lee Opens Up about his Career: 'Gay People Saved My Life'

Out podcaster Jon Dean brought a straight guest to his podcast for the first time: adult entertainment icon Andy Lee, a sizzling (and famously well-endowed) hunk who has made millions from playing gay.
But is Lee exploiting his queer audience? Dean posed the question, only for the hot, hung porn star to explain that the queer community had welcomed him in when straight society did not. Gay people, he said, have "been supportive – not just monetized me; like, they've been supportive as friends online," with some of them having been friends over the course of years.
"I don't really look at people like that, like, 'He's my gay mate,'" the OF icon said. Moreover, he told Dean, whether he's in a scene with a man or a woman, "it's my job."
Most of all, he said, "The audience, the fans who's watching me, saved my life," Lee told Dean. "Gay people saved my life.... they made me feel wanted and loved."
The 37-year-old has been in the porn industry in various ways since he was 23, despite the fact that he's "never been physically attracted to men" and identifies as heterosexual.
That said, "I'm a lot more comfortable with my sexuality now," the self-described "lad's lad" went on to say. When he was 21, he added, he "was straight as an arrow."
"Now I'm more relaxed," he went on to say. "I can do stuff with guys and not look into it too much." And though he's not turned on by guys, "sometimes when I'm filming, I'm turned on by the naughty side of it."
Not that there might not have been a smidge of curiosity even when he was younger; Lee recalled having showed off his sexual equipment to his male friends. "For me and me mates, we were just doing lad stuff, you know?"
"But growing up with the lads... I never know I was a little bit different. I never knew I had a bigger dick than the other lads. Then, when I was about 15, we was in a field one day and we was just joking around, and I just whipped it out, and they're like – " Lee threw his head back to illustrate the reaction at the size of his manhood.
It's a response the wider world had too, years later – so much so that after finding his way to OnlyFans, Lee was invited to appear on a UK dating show initially meant to be called "Too Large for Love" (but retitled "My Massive Cock").
But that was far in the future. Lee clarified that though he and male friends masturbated together as teens, it was in the spirit of "you want to have a race and see who comes first?" rather than because they turned each other on.
"I don't know whether that's weird or not," Lee added. "We were just being lads back then."
Lee's porn origin story is like a gay fairytale. It was after a stint of working in Australia and then living in the UK that Lee – who was "a skinny little boy" at the time – decided to join a gym and bulk up. There, he met a South African man named Bailey – "really, really, beautiful, big guy, blond spiky hair, everything I wanted to be in life" – and the two became friends. Upon discovering that Bailey had done work for a gay porn site – and being dissatisfied with paltry pay at his job – Lee gave porn a try with the studio English Lads.
"I enjoyed it," he said of the experience. "All my life I'd never been wanted or liked, so it was nice being wanted, and these guys couldn't get enough." Part of his allure: "I come differently from other people.... when I come, it comes out loads, and it goes far." Upon witnessing that, the studio was eager to have him return. "In one week, I made £1,800" for three videos, Lee recalled.
He went on to make videos here and there, but it wasn't a career yet. He worked as an oil rig man, met a woman at a gay pride celebration and later married her, and went to school to learn a trade as a plumber.
But in 2020 his porn past caught up with him, and Lee found himself out of a job just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Worse, he was suffering a biceps injury that presented more problems for getting work. He fell into a funk – but then he decided to give OnlyFans a try.
"I used everything I learned from the porn industry," he said of his early OnlyFans days. "I was just me, jerking off, talking to the camera."
That changed – especially with a pivotal moment when he was orally serviced on camera by an American collaborator named Nicholas. "That was the biggest step for me," Lee said. "It happened by accident."
Explaining, Lee related that he and his collaborators usually discuss what will and won't be allowed in a scene, but on this particular day "we were in a rush" and so they skipped that preliminary conversation.
"I was dressed as a fireman," Lee recounted, "And I was talking down to Nick, like, 'Sniff my balls,' you know, that type of thing." Without knowing this was something new for Lee, Nick "just put it in his mouth." Lee was taken aback for a moment, but then, he said, "it just clicked in my head – I was just like, 'Ah, just go with it.'"
After that, "I struggled with it mentally," Lee disclosed. "It's silly now... but in my head at that time, I was like, 'I got erect and I come for a guy – am I gay?' This is what I was saying to myself."
Lee worked his way through that. He told Dean that his attitude is that sexual pleasure is something independent of the gender of his scene partner – although, "I'm way more comfortable working with men than with women," he admitted. "It goes back to me being a lad's lad. I'm more comfortable around a group of lads, because my style of porn is just a group of lads having fun. We have a laugh and we do something naughty."
Lee related an unexpected twist in his journey to massive OnlyFans success – namely, the viral success of "My Massive Cock" on Channel 4. That program gave his OF a huge boost. From there, "Things just grew and grew and grew," Lee said. "Life got really good."
The straight hunk has now started making straight porn – and his gay fans have followed him to that content, as well. "They love it. They want to see me be me, enjoying myself."
His fans, he went on to tell Dean, requested authenticity by asking for him to bring "lads from the street... not porn stars" onto his OnlyFans for collabs. "They like straight lads fooling around with each other," he detailed. "Me doing stuff with a girl and a guy – they like to see that."
