Expectant Dad Colton Underwood Ready with Unborn Son's Deluxe Nursery

Out reality star and former NFL player Colton Underwood is anticipating the arrival of his son next month, and the bundle of joy will be coming home to a well-appointed nursery, People Magazine reported.
Underwood and his husband, Jordan C. Brown, "are expecting their first baby together via surrogate in early October," the magazine detailed, "and Underwood teamed up with Babylist to help get their son's space ready for his arrival."
The luxe room features a day bed with elegant end table, a "canopy" that drapes down the wall next to the crib, and a chest of drawers that presents classical, yet still modern, lines, along with tasteful decor."
Calling the room "not traditional" for a nursery, Underwood explained the color scheme, which is far more involved than the pedestrian pink or blue.
The 32-year-old onetime "Bachlor" star – who came out after being featured on the show – told People that he and Brown are "going with some greens, some yellows, some reds, which I know people might not think is going to work, but we're really excited."
"The 'Daddyhood' podcast host and his political strategist husband worked with designer Chad Wood for the special space," People detailed, "and one of Underwood's favorite elements is the 'canopy' over the crib that he says 'really ties into [our] house.'"
The crib, the article added, carries special significance due to the couple having made its assembly a joint project.
"All of these little moments just mean so much to us because we don't physically get to be along with the entire ride," Underwood said. "We're not with our surrogate every single day."
"So little things, as far as picking paint colors out and leaning into how we want this room to feel when we enter, where do we want to sit, where do we want the nursing chair to be when we want to hold him and feed him, it just adds more weight into those decisions."
Helping ease the way, Underwood added, was an app from Babylist. Saying that he was initially "overwhelmed" at the prospect of getting ready for their son, Underwood noted that "on the app, there's a checklist. Here's what you have out of that category, here's what you're missing."
The couple are also armed with comfort in the form of a special heirloom: Underwood's own baby blanket.
"Wrapping him in that and just loving on him and showing him the world, and being able to watch Jordan hold and feed him and having late nights and early mornings and all of the things that come with being a dad is what I'm looking forward to," the dad-to-be enthused.
The couple's expectancy via surrogacy was announced last spring, barely a year after Underwood and Brown celebrated their nuptials. The process involved both husbands providing their sperm.
In comments to Men's Health, Underwood recounted that Brown's count was "50 or 55 million," whereas his own tallied a mere four sperm.
"And three of them are dead," Underwood added. "Word for word, what the doctor said, he goes, 'Uh, I can maybe make this one work.' This one?!"
Underwood's dreams of fatherhood might never have been possible without in vitro fertilization and a surrogate, but those dreams are on their way to coming true.
