Broadway Fans Will Have to Wait for 'My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?)'

Broadway fans will have to wait just a bit longer for "My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?)" to grace the Great White Way. After getting rave reviews for its run on London's West End, the comedic play announced that it will be postponing its New York City this spring until next season, Variety reported.
A one-person production, the play planned to run for 16 weeks at NYC's Lyceum Theatre. "Preview performances were scheduled to start on Feb. 27 ahead of opening night on March 12," Variety reports, and many theatergoers had already purchased their tickets, according to producers.
Written and starring Rob Madge, "My Son's A Queer (But What Can You Do?)" tells the story of a family struggling to come to grips with their son's love of all things Disney, theater and queer identity. The play is described as "hilarious, poignant, and infectiously joyous," and now the anticipation to see the play will build a little bit longer with its premiere postponement.
Show producers did give a reason for the show's delay but explained that there will be a new theater and new dates announced at a later date.
Luke Sheppard ("& Juliet") serves as director of the show, with songs by Pippa Cleary ("The Great British Bake Off Musical") to create "a hilarious ode to musical theatre and VHS tapes as it is the power of a family's acceptance."
