'Mean Girls' Star Jonathan Bennett Marries Longtime BF Jaymes Vaughan in Mexico

"Mean Girls" star Jonathan Bennett wed Jaymes Vaughan at Mexico's Unico Riviera Maya Hotel in a March 19 ceremony that included white tuxedos and white roses, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported.
"The newlyweds, who began dating back in 2017, were joined by 104 of their loved ones for the romantic seaside ceremony, officiated by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen," the Mail described. "Bucking tradition, the grooms 'skipped a typical wedding walk down the aisle' and met at the [altar] as the original song Vaughan wrote to propose to his spouse played."
The elegant proceedings included dinner served al fresco under the nighttime sky – which was, for a while, brilliantly adorned with a fireworks display that was set off to the soundtrack from the Hugh Jackman-starring musical "The Greatest Showman," new reports detailed.
People Magazine, which broke the story, noted that Unico Riviera Maya Hotel is an "inclusive" venue – an important detail, given how Bennett and Vaughan claimed last year that another destination in Mexico turned their wedding away for "moral reasons" because they are two men.
"When you're part of the LGBTQ+ fam, not everything in the wedding space is for you yet," Vaughan remarked to People. "The whole purpose of our wedding is to come together and join the two of us together, join our families together and start a new family."
"[A]s we were going through this process, we realized that our wedding is also more than just about us. It's about the entire community," Bennett said.
"The wedding party stuck to 'gender-neutral' black tuxes and white tuxes, while the guests – which included stars like Danica McKellar and Sharon Lawrence – dressed in various shades of white to honor Bennett's late mother," Page Six said.
"It's gender-neutral but everyone looks represented and feels sexy in their own way," Bennett told People, calling the clothing choices "a new tradition for the community."
"You don't have to do dresses and tuxes," Bennett added. "Anyone who wants to wear a tux, wear a tux, go for it."
"Each man wrote his own vows and placed a diamond-encrusted Kay Jewelers ring on the others' hand," People recounted. Pointing out that the same style of wedding rings they used are also for sale at Kay Jewelers for others to wear, Bennett called that, too, a "new tradition we created."
Bennett told People that "It was honestly a dream wedding!"
"If you had told me this was one of my Hallmark movie sets, I would have believed it. It was that perfect."
The happy couple posted photos on Instagram of the wedding and also of themselves in a tropical locale. Have a look below.
