Michael Sam Speaks Out About Raiders Coach Jon Gruden's Homophobic Emails

Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, has broken his silence about the recently revealed homophobic emails written by Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden.
Sam said it was "unfortunate" that the emails came from the team that drafted out defensive end Carl Nassib, who came out this year and became the first openly gay athlete to play in the NFL, reported USA Today.
Nassib very publicly took the day off from the team as the emails surfaced.
Sam, speaking at a virtual event presented as "Courageous Conversation with Michael Sam," added: "So it almost seems like you know how the whole team would rally around (Nassib), but again, it almost seems like it was just for show. So are you really a part of it, or are you not?"
Regardless, Sam said the football sport is "moving in that direction [of acceptance]."
"So if you're not a part of it, you need to find another profession,'' he said.
