At Club Med, Vacation FOMO is a Thing of the Past

Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 5 MIN. SPONSORED

For more than a year, most of us have only traveled vicariously through Facebook memories and Zoom calls with dreaded fake backgrounds. But the desire and ability to travel responsibly is beginning to emerge as more of the population becomes vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association surveyed more than 15,000 from around the world and discovered that despite the global challenges we've faced, there is still a strong desire to travel, with nearly half of respondents saying that they'd not change the types of destinations they visited.

All-inclusive destinations have long been a favorite of travelers looking for hassle-free planning and all the perks and amenities of a first-rate resort. For more than 70 years, Club Med has offered travelers best-in-class accommodations and experiences in some of the world's most coveted destinations. The brand has continued to evolve over the decades, expanding its offerings and warmly welcoming LGBTQ travelers, whether they're traveling as singles, friends, couples, families – or in the case of tour operators like Olivia and Atlantis – entire property takeovers to create the ultimate queer oasis.

"The aim of life is to be happy, and the time to be happy is now," said Club Med founder Gérard Blitz. Truer words have never been spoken. Blitz believed that a vacation experience could be as activity-packed or relaxed as the guest desired, creating a model that offers plenty of social, cultural and sports activities to fill a day and comfortably designed properties equally suited to unplug and unwind.

Spring Into Summer

It's not only been a tough year emotionally, but the financial strain on many of us has also had an impact. Savvy travelers know, though, that there are sales to be found, enabling more people to turn their wanderlust into real-life experiences.

Club Med's can't-miss Spring into Summer sale offers travelers 45% off all-inclusive escapes at Club Med's fan-favorite resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Florida, where you can experience unlimited land and water activities, extensive culinary options and premium oceanfront accommodations. The sale runs through May 4, 2021, with travel dates from February 26, 2021, to November 5, 2021.

Two to Try

Club Med Cancún, Mexico: The perfect location for those looking to discover Mexico's rich Mayan culture and a beach vacation. Guests searching for added privacy can indulge in customized upscale services with a stay in the Exclusive Collection Jade Space, which features a private pool and bar while still having access to the property's key features: the flying trapeze, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing, private oceanfront massages on the beach, spa treatments at the newly renovated Club Med Spa by L'OCCITANE, and a variety of refined, locally inspired cuisine.

The premium all-inclusive resort is family-friendly, with plenty of activities to fill a day, and an ideal spot for adult adventurers, including nearby access to the Mayan ruins of Chichén-Itzá and snorkeling at the world's second-largest coral reef, the Belize Barrier Reef.

Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda, Dominican Republic: Reopening in April of 2021, Club Med's newest Caribbean resort (opened November 2019) is the first and only resort in the secluded region of Miches, an unspoiled hideaway in the Dominican Republic's northeast coast.

The eco-chic, luxury all-inclusive resort features a plethora of land and water sports within its four boutique villages (a hotel-within-a-hotel experience), two of which are adults-only. Guests searching for unmatched serenity can book a stay in the Emerald Jungle boutique village, a Zen Oasis catering to wellness seekers through its treetop wellness platform (yoga in the trees!), a naturally-filtered adult-exclusive zen pool, and steps away from the on-site Club Med Spa by Cinq Mondes..

Discover an intimate getaway when staying in the Archipelago boutique village, the perfect hideaway for guests to enjoy everything the resort offers and indulge in premier Club Med accommodations: a two-bedroom oceanfront Suite with a private pool, outdoor shower and infinity pool.

Peace of Mind

There's more to consider these days when booking a vacation than simply, "Where do I want to go?" Smart travelers are looking for safety protocols, reasonable cancellation policies and stress-free environments. Club Med checks all the boxes:

Free Cancellation Policy – For new bookings made on or after May 18, 2020, guests can receive a full refund should they need to cancel their stay (up to 15 days before the anticipated travel date) for stays on or before December 16, 2021.

Emergency Assistance Program – All guests traveling before December 31, 2022, will receive coverage for emergency medical expenses during their stay, including those related to COVID-19.

Club Med Safe Together Protocols – Implemented in all of the brand's resorts as they reopen, including those in Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean, these newly enhanced hygiene and safety measures were developed through recommendations from the World Health Organization, local health authorities, and the advice of an International Scientific Committee comprised of a specialized team of doctors and professors.

PCR + Rapid Antigen Testing – As required for re-entry into the United States from international destinations, Club Med offers complimentary Rapid Antigen COVID-19 tests on-site. PCR testing is also available at an additional cost.

Low-Density Design and Occupancy – Club Med's open-air, low-density resorts are surrounded by nature and feature multiple low-rise buildings spread across 50 acres (equivalent to approximately 38 football fields). Each resort is currently operating at a limited capacity to enable social distancing and exclusivity.
