Ellen's 2009 Tweet About Making an Employee 'Cry Like a Baby' Goes Viral

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

A tweet talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres fired off more than a decade ago is just now going viral...for all the wrong reasons.

"I made one of my employees cry like a baby on today's show. Honestly, it felt good," DeGeneres tweeted on June 5, 2009.

It's seemingly a joke but the context behind the message is lost. Newsweek points out that IMDb shows that the episode that aired on the same day as DeGeneres's tweet featured actor Jessica Biel, singer Kellie Pickler and self-help author Kathy Freston.

The attention to the tweet comes just after it was reported that three executive producers were removed from "The Ellen Show." Warner Bros. recently conducted an internal investigation due to recent reports where former and current employees made accusations of racial insensitivity, sexual misconduct and a toxic workplace environment.

Of course, Twitter was quick to react to DeGeneres' tweet. Find the best response below.
