RuPaul´s 'Allstars' :: Runners Up Katya and Detox

Scott Holland READ TIME: 3 MIN.

A week after the finale of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" Season 2, it was a pleasure to sit down with Detox and Katya for this Hotspots Exclusive interview:

How has your life changed since you were on "Drag Race" the first time?

Detox - How hasn't it changed, honestly?! I've traveled the world, I've met people and done things I only dreamed of doing as a kid, I'm world renowned. It's insane. It's humbling. It's chaotic. The most important thing to me though is that I think it solidified the importance of drag to me to my family.

Katya - Since "Drag Race" my life has gone from a black and white silent short film to an IMAX 3D superhero franchise. Just in scale, not quality.

What has been some of your favorite cities to visit as "RuPaul" alumni?

Detox - Stockholm is probably my favorite city to visit. The people, the scenery... everything is beautiful there. I loved Venice too.

Katya - Some of my favorite cities to visit and perform in have been Paris, Amsterdam, Oslo and Rio de Janeiro.

How exciting was it to get called back for "All Stars?"

Detox - Nerve wrecking, but extremely validating.

Katya - It was equal parts excitement and terror getting that call again.

Did you consider not coming back to "All Stars?" If so, why -- if not, why?

Detox - There was not a question. I think I was more excited to do "All Stars" than I even was for Season 5!

Katya - First rule in reality TV competition show participation: Why go on one show when you can do two twice for the fun. I was totally OK to go.

How did you prepare differently for all stars than you did the first time on the show?

Detox - I had a bit more time to put packages together this time around. I was much more in control of what I was bringing look wise, and every look was fully thought out and prepared going in to everything. I was also in a better state of mind and able to be present.

Katya - I spent a lot of money, prayed to God and did my stretches.

If you couldn't win, who would you have wanted to win from the entire cast and why?

Detox - Obviously I was in it to win it... and once I left I had a really good feeling about everything. Watching it, I gave up any hope I had in winning after week 3. I'm very happy for Alaska, she deserved her win. But so did I ;-)

Katya - Any of those whores could have won. But the right one did, so I'm happy.

Did you get out of all stars all that you wanted to?>/b>

Detox - Oh, for sure. The experience was amazing. I'm so proud of everything I did there. As a viewer, I was disappointed that we didn't get a chance to see just how well I actually was doing throughout the competition though.

Katya - The itchy post-allstars rash has not yet cleared up so I'm hopeful it'll stick around for a few more months.

What does the future hold?

Katya - I'm working on a live stage show for the spring. And lots of other little projects.

Special Question for KATYA: How and where did you come up with your Russian Persona (and by the way, it's FABULOUS)?

Katya - My grandmother used to suffer from paranoid delusions about the KGB and that always resonated with me. RIP.
