BBC Finalizing Deal for New 'Brideshead Revisited' Adaptation with Luca Guadagnino
The BBC is apparently close to finalizing a deal for a new version Evelyn Waugh's "Brideshead Revisited," Deadline reports. Attached to the project is acclaimed "Call Me By Your Name" director Luca Guadagnino.
Apparently, the project has been in the works for a while, with BBC drama controller Piers Wenger having regularly talking with Guadagnino over the last two years. While it hasn't been confirmed yet, Ralph Fiennes, Cate Blanchett and Andrew Garfield are allegedly attached to the project as well.
"Brideshead Revisited" was adapted as a series in 1981 for ITV with Jeremy Irons playing the lead role of Ryder; later, in the 2008 film adaptation, Matthew Goode featured in that role.
