While much isn't known about the storyline of the upcoming and highly anticipated "The Matrix 4," actor Keanu Reeves did provides a few hints this week on BBC's "The One Show," Indiewire reports.

Reeves returns as Neo in the Lana Wachowski-direct film, which he calls "a beautiful script that is a love story, it's inspiring." Of the overarching theme, Reeves states "it's another version of a kind of call to wake up and it has some great action. All will be revealed."

When asked if the fourth film will be a prequel, Reeves only responded by saying "no, no. No going in the past." This is particularly striking because at the end of the third film, 2003's "The Matrix: Revolutions," as the actor states, "things looked a little dire for Neo." Judging by Reeves' comments, "The Matrix 4" could potentially see the relationship between Neo and Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) as a focus of the film.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who has also signed on to the fourth installment, also dropped some hints on Tuesday on SiriusXM's "The Jess Cagle Show" about the visual style of the upcoming film, according to Hollywood Reporter. Harris said, "I think [Lana] has a great inclusive energy and her style has shifted visually from what she had done to what she is currently doing."

Prior to the pandemic, filming had wrapped in San Francisco and has since resumed in Berlin. "The Matrix 4" is set to open on April 1, 2022.
