Watch: RuPaul, Sarah Paulson, 'Moonlight' Director Among Time's 100 Most Influential People
Come through, Mama Ru!
RuPaul was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People, it was revealed Thursday.
Fittingly. supermodel Naomi Campbell wrote the profile on Ru for Time.
"Ru was different. Not just because he had perfect, precise clothes and makeup, or because he was the only man I knew who could look that good in a wig and heels," she wrote. "There were no rough edges to be found.
"But as I got to know him better, I got to experience firsthand his wit and his intelligence-he's like an encyclopedia," Campbell added. "And his beauty is far beyond skin-deep."
In a statement to New Now Next, Time explained Ru's inclusion:
"The iconic host, advocate, drag queen, singer, model, actor and author is a trailblazer who continues to break down barriers in a career that spans over 25 years."
Outside the obvious inclusions on the annual list (like President Donald Trump) Time also honored "American Crime Story" star Sarah Paulson, "Moonlight" director Barry Jenkins, pop star Demi Lovato, fashion designer Raf Simmons, author Margaret Atwood and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
RuPaul's inclusion on the list comes after winning an Emmy last year for hosting "RuPaul's Drag Race."
